Like most teenage girls, Brooklyn Primus of Phoenix, loves socializing, dancing, make-up and pop culture. Brooklyn holds a 4.3 GPA and has lettered in Jr. Varsity volleyball her freshmen year.

If you ask any of her friends or classmates, they will tell you that Brooklyn loves to sing. In fact, when asked, what she likes most about singing, she simply responds, “I just like the way it makes me feel.” She is excited about an opportunity that may come once in a lifetime.

Brooklyn has been a member of the Phoenix Girls Chorus for five years and is preparing to sing at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City. In June of 2016, Brooklyn, along with the two top choirs, Bella and Cantabile, has been invited to sing under the direction of Artistic Director Danya Tiller-Elliott, as she conducts Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria.

Founded in 1981, the international award winning Phoenix Girls Chorus has delighted audiences around Arizona and the world. The top-level ensemble, Cantabile, recently won first place in their choir division and was also awarded for their excellence in performance at the Franz Schubert International Choral Competition.

The Phoenix Girls Chorus has performed for the Phoenix Suns, the Arizona Diamond-backs, the Arizona House of Representatives, the Office of Mayor Stanton in the City of Phoenix and former Governor Janet Napolitano along with various radio and television stations in the valley. The ladies have also taken part in prestigious choral festivals throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, France, England, Italy and Czech Republic. In 2012, Cantabile Choir won a gold diploma for performance in a music festival in Vienna, Austria. Last year they were selected to perform Sunday Mass at the Vatican in Rome, Italy.

Brooklyn says, “Singing allows me an escape and a way to express myself with my voice.” She hopes to continue with the Phoenix Girls Chorus throughout her high school career. Brooklyn is currently fundraising to secure her spot to sing at Carnegie Hall next year. The young ladies fundraise individually within the program to help offset the costs of touring with their choir. If you would like to help send Brooklyn to Carnegie Hall with the Phoenix Girls Chorus and enter into a drawing for the chance to win exciting prizes, please visit her fundraiser page on their website at http:// phoenixgirlschorus.dojiggy.com and search for her name.
