The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced new grant funding last week in the amount of $190 million for homeless assistance programs across the country.

The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Continuum of Care Regional Committee on Homelessness was awarded $1,393,580 for two local programs. The funding will provide 67 permanent housing units and an end to homelessness for more than one hundred people living on the streets in the region.

PHOENIX – U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke will hold the first of a series of civil rights forums focusing on federal civil rights laws such as official misconduct, new federal statutes on hate crimes and the investigation and prosecution of violations. The forum will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, in the auditorium of South Mountain High School at 5401 S. 7th Street. Doors open at 5:30 and the public is encouraged to attend.
