In September 2012, Corey and Kimberly Horton created Purple Gurl’s air-popped popcorn to ensure their family’s future by becoming successful entrepreneurs. The couple met at college in Mississippi where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and he earned his in mass communications. Only after the economic downturn in Arizona did they consider turning their love of sharing treats with friends and neighbors into a solid business.
Purple Gurl’s is now fully licensed, insured, and trade-marked. They make 13 flavors of gourmet, air-popped, white kernel popcorn using only pronounceable ingredients and no GMOs (genetically modified organisms).
Currently you can buy their popcorn from the Purple Gurl’s® website, at several local farmers markets, and at nearby vetted festivals. Corey and Kimberly also have big plans to extend their brand nationwide anywhere people eat popcorn, including concerts and major sporting events.
These two ambitious entrepreneurs believe in strengthening and giving back to their communities through philanthropy, sponsorship, and fundraising in partnership with nonprofit organizations. They also love traveling with their three children to visit family and friends in Arkansas and Mississippi
