Phoenix – UrbanAZ recently announced that it will be bringing 90’s R&B group sensation New Edition with special guest Kenny (Babyface) Edmonds to the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix on Wednesday, July 27. Showtime is 8 p.m.
The group consists of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill. Hailing from Boston, the group is celebrating 30 years of trend setting music. New Edition laid the foundation for how modern-day boy bands look, feel, and sound. Boyz II Men, N’Sync, The Backstreet Boys, and New Kids On The Block all took their cues from Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny. After 30 years of breaking hearts on their records and from the stage, they are back as if they’ve never left to leave audiences amazed at the superb dance routines and music that has wowed fans from back in the day, and still does.
Also on the bill is Kenny (Babyface) Edmonds. The 11-time Grammy Award winner channels the magic on stage with songs from the album that started it all…Tender Lover, among many others. That 1989 definitive breakthrough spun off four R&B/pop crossover hits, including R&B No. 1’s “It’s No Crime” and “Tender Lover” plus “Whip Appeal” and “My Kinda Girl.”
Tickets are on sale now at Celebrity Theatre, 440 N. 32nd St., in Phoenix, or online at www.celebritytheatre.com. To charge by phone, call 602-267-1600 ext. 1.
