At the Tolleson Invitational Track Meet, Avondale Westview’s sophomore Jae’Nisa Heckstall was the only athlete to win three individual races with her victories in the 100m dash (12.27), 100m hurdles (15.09), and 300m hurdles (46.75).

“I’m disappointed with my time in the 300,” said Heckstall. “I have run faster.”

Heckstall also ran a leg on the Knights’ winning 4x100m relay team (49.59) along with Alexxis Cabrera, Emma Cruz, and Simone Lewis. Goodyear Millennium (50.74) was second followed by Tucson Buena (51.84). Fountain Hills (4:16.61) was the 4x400m relay race champions.

Tolleson’s junior Trey Johnson won two races on his home track and the first one was the 110m hurdle competition, with a time of 14.28, as he outran Surprise Willow Canyon’s Grant Carpenter (14.82) to the finish line. Johnson did not run in the 300m hurdles, which was won by Carpenter (39.07). A few minutes later, Johnson (10.85) easily won the 100m dash ahead of a pair of Phoenix South Mountain sprinters – Robert Williams (11.18) and Moses Lawi (11.25).

“I’m working on getting better each week,” said Johnson, who lowered both his times from the Chandler Rotary Elite Meet a few weeks ago (10.92; 14.47).

Surprise Valley Vista’s sophomore sprinter Dorian Nesby also was a dual winner with her wins in the 200m dash (25.81) and the 400m dash (57.35) which was better than her Rotary Seeded Meet winning time of 59.20.

Buena’s senior sprinter Reise Way (22.90) was the 200m dash champion, with Millennium’s Kenneth Walker (23.00) coming in second, after finishing fourth in the 100 (11.30).

Williams (50.63) was South Mountain’s lone winner as the junior outdistanced Mesa West-wood’s Marcus Mannie (51.79) for the victory.

Millennium’s Zion Green (5-00.00) was the high jump winner as she outperformed runner-up Sedona Red Rock’s Sophia Perry who cleared 4-11.00. Glendale Copper Canyon’s Malik Abdul-Hakim (6-04.00) won the boys’ high jump.

Tolleson (43.34), with leadoff man Tamir Sigmon, beat Higley (43.64) in the 4x100m relay race while Westwood (3:27.53), anchored by Mannie, was the 4×400 winner over Phoenix Alhambra (3:32.80).

Goodyear Desert Edge field event winners were Dante Blissit (discus, 165-01), Marissa Ellis (triple jump, 35-00.00), Ashley Fawcett (long jump, 16-06.00), and Tyson Jones (shot put, 60-01.00).
