Youngsters Excel At SATC

In the 400 for boys aged 11-12, the winner was Ruben Lerma (1:00.20), from the Do Right Track Club. Arizona Rising Suns’ Jacobi Spence (1:02.88) edged Arizona Burn’s Jamison Stamps (1:02.90) for second place.

When interviewed, Lerma said, “This was fun.”

In order from fourth to ninth was Burn’s Micah Warren (1:03.41), Arizona Elite’s Samuel Ford (1:03.46), Arizona Titans’ Royal Haley (1:03.90), Arizona Flames’ Legend Steward (1;04.24), Rising Suns’ Josiah Anderson (1:04.64), and Burn’s Zuri Glenn (1:04.86).

The girls’ 400 was a battle for first between two sisters – Sabatiney and Stacey Onyepunuka – from Rising Suns with 10-year-old Stacey (1:02.15) victorious over 11-year-old Sabatiney (1:04.55). Phoenix Elitez’ Lundyn continued from page 12

finished third and fourth, respectively, with the same official time of 1:04.97.

“I go hard no matter what,” said Stacey, when asked by O’Brien how it feels to compete against her sister. Stacey was able to compete in the higher age group because of a qualifying time.

“I knew I was behind, but I knew I had to keep going,” said Sabatiney when asked for a comment.

Arizona Cheetahs’ Na’Zyia (1:06.59) and Anaya Quarles (1:07.25) were fifth and sixth followed by Rising Suns’ Heaven Binford (1:08.86) and Quick Silver’s Sa Rae Kennard (1:09.38).

Quick Silver finished 1-2-3 in the eight and under boys’ 100 in this order – Noah Roberts (14.40), Dominic Wilson (15.26), and Taylan Patterson (15.29).

The rest of the field included Prime Elite’s Ramsey Payne (15.59), Flames’ Donjerome McKoy Jr. (16.11), Do Right’s Cornell Neal (16.12), Cheetahs’ Arieon Stevenson (16.13), Arizona Elite’s Christian Griffin (16.42), and Cheetahs’ Jaylen Richardson (16.47).

Arizona Track Stars’ Belle Amina-Harris (15.55) was the girls’ eight and under 100 champion as she finished ahead of Titans’ Leticia Hailey (15.85) and Cheetahs’ A’Zariah Burnett (16.24).

The next sprinters to cross the finish line were Accelerate Track’s Sabriyah El-Amin (16.40), Burn’s Shay Colosimo (16.66), Phoenix Bobcats’ Antonae Walter Meeker (16.84), Phoenix Flyer’s Isabella Allison (16.91), and NX Level’s Sydney Sanders (17.04).

Both Roberts and Amina-Harris stated that they were not scared to run before a big contingent of track fans.
